Why choose resin to make a fireproof safe?

When the safe was invented, its intention was to provide a strongbox protection against theft. That is because there were really little alternatives to guard against theft and society overall was more disorderly back then. Home and business security include door locks had little protection when it comes to guarding valuables. Therefore when the safe was invented, steel or metal was chosen for the outer casing to ensure adequate protection against forced entry. However, society has come a long way and most modernized countries are much safer and civilized these days. Also, there are much more options to protect the entire home or business against unauthorized entry including CCTV, alarms, stronger doors and door locks. More so, there are other significant perils that need to be guarded against such as fire. Without proper protection like a fireproof safe box, fire can caused irreversible damages and losses to your valuables, important documents and personal belongings by turning them to ashes.

With the change in the perils that need to be guarded, the protection shifts from having a strongbox to guard against forced entry but to guarding against the fire peril due to the irreversible nature of a fire accident. The critical component becomes the captured insulation layer that provides the protection for contents within when the temperature is high on the outside. This provides an opportunity to use alternative materials to make the product. Resin has been chosen as a material to make Guarda’s fireproof chests and fireproof and waterproof safes. As a versatile material, resin does has some advantages and was chosen with the below upside in sight.

The insulation that provides the critical protection against fire already adds significant weight to a safe, especially when a chest item requires some portability. By using resin, it allows to safe some weight on the product. This is because for the same thickness and size, metal density is approximately 7-8 times higher than resin.

Although modern day coating technology already helps to better protect metals against corrosion and rust, the risk and the possibility is not 100% mitigated. However, with resin, there are no worries about that issue and the material is stable and safe.

By using resin, Guarda has extended this technology to create a full sealing when there is a fire. With the insulation wrapped around the inner casing, the inner casing welds and seals upon itself to prevent heat and air to get into inside of the box. Also, resin allows us to further add a strong waterproof feature which helps to keep water out when the fireproof chest or fireproof safe is submerged underwater. The seal also helps to prevent water damage from water during the fire rescue.

Using tooling that creates various shapes and sizes, resin provides a versatility and convenience that other materials cannot provide. It has allow us to create chest styles for fireproof safes that provides a space saving and  economical solution for those that wants to protect their important documents but yet wants the convenience to move it about when needed. Resin also allows us to make it in various chosen colors that is just not coated but embedded into the material.
